This was a great episode to finish out the year. We use everything we've learned this season to build something real. As always we encounter some surprises and use those moments to learn more and solidify our foundational knowledge of MSBuild.

Behind the build
I opened this episode by claiming we weren’t going to do anything new. I thought we would simply be applying concepts we already knew. Of course, that didn’t turn out to be true at all.
Episode 8 is where we stopped adding new MSBuild concepts and put them together to build something that works. Targets, items, metadata, batching, transforms, inputs, outputs, conditions, defaults, excludes. All to create something real even if it’s not necessarily terribly useful.
If everything in this episode makes sense, you have become accomplished with MSBuild. There is more to learn but this foundation will serve you well as we go forward.
Next time, I expect we’ll finish this project up then package it properly so we can share it with others.
